Nebraska Climbers Needed

Rappeling_Highest_Point

Ok, maybe the term "climber" is a stretch, but The State FOP received this email from Brother Troy Bacon of the Frankfort Indiana Lodge #69 in reference to a nation wide event:

Troy Bacon

My name is Lt Troy Bacon with the Frankfort Police Department in Indiana. I am also an active FOP member (Frankfort Indiana Lodge 69) and a member of the Cops on Top law enforcement climbing organization. I also serve as the national organizer for the Cops on Top 2011 Summit for Heroes memorial. You may have read about the Cops on Top organization in the National FOP Journal. Here is the link: http://www.fop.net/publications/journal/Journal2011_01.pdf

The reason I am contacting you is for your help. On June 25th, teams across the country comprised of law enforcement officers, police survivors, friends, and supporters will he attempting to reach their states highest point in honor of law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Unfortunately, Nebraska is not represented and currently has no one committing to reaching Panorama Point in honor of the fallen officers of Nebraska.

Panorama Point is 5,424 feet and is located near Kimball.

I would be greatly appreciative if you could help spread the word throughout Nebraska in hopes that someone will make the trek. We have been conducting this memorial service for over 10 years and this year’s level of participation will be historic as it will be record numbers for us. We would love Nebraska to participate this year and help bring awareness to the dangers of our profession and life altering effects the tragic loss of a police officer has on a family, department, and community.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me or visit our website at: http://www.copsontop.com

Fraternally,

Troy Bacon
If anyone is interested in "climbing" Panorama Point near Kimball to honor law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty please contact a member of the State FOP Board!
