Omaha St. Patrick's Day 2011 Parade Update
The annual Omaha area St. Patrick's Day Parade scheduled for Saturday March 12th, 2011 sponsored by the Omaha Ancient Order of Hibernians is fast approaching. I have heard from several agencies (listed below) in confirming their participation as part of the Omaha Emerald Society entry. I would hope that more of you consider joining us in this fun event. We are always first in the parade and last year our entry stretched almost one mile long. Once again the parade begins at 10:00am, with a show up time of 9:15am at or near 15th & Howard St, in downtown Omaha.
Howard Street is one-way westbound and we will line up between 13th-15th on Howard St. Non Omaha Fire Departments vehicles will be nearest to 15th, with the Police vehicles behind. Omaha Fire Department personnel and vehicles will line up on 15th between Jackson and Howard St. We will follow the same order in the parade as last year; walking Police units, then Police vehicles, walking Fire units, then Fire vehicles. In keeping with an idea from past years you can honor the fallen officers from your agency by walking with an American or Agency flag carried in behalf of that fallen officer during the parade.
The parade will be broadcast live on the radio KKAR 1290AM from 10:00am -11:30am and your department will be recognized as they pass the reviewing stand.
If you are going to participate please contact me for confirmation; Rich McShane 402-680-2743 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
I've included videos from the 2009 and 2010 parade for you to enjoy.

*A reminder again this year that the city of Omaha does not permit any items to be thrown or tossed from a moving vehicle. So if you are going to bring candy or souvenirs to be given out, that must be done by personnel walking along the parade route. The kids love the candy but this is done for their safety.
